IT6152: High-Efficiency MIPI-to-DisplayPort Bridge for 4K Multimedia Systems
As high-resolution displays become increasingly prevalent across tablets, industrial PCs, and video conferencing systems, system integrators are seeking flexible and power-efficient bridge solutions that can interface modern SoCs with DisplayPort-based panels. The IT6152 from ITE Tech is a high-performance, low-power MIPI-to-DisplayPort bridge IC that supports either DisplayPort 1.4 or eDP output via a single output port. With dual MIPI D-PHY input ports, 2-slice DSC decoding capability, and rich audio features, the IT6152 offers a compact yet feature-rich solution for next-generation embedded displays.
Dual-Port MIPI Input for Maximum Throughput
The IT6152 supports up to two independent MIPI DSI input ports (each configurable for 1/2/4 lanes), allowing for either single- or dual-port input configurations. This provides up to 8 total lanes and an aggregated bandwidth of up to 20 Gbps, enabling seamless handling of high-resolution video data. Each MIPI port is compliant with MIPI D-PHY v2.0 and DSI-2 v2.0, supporting a wide range of pixel formats including:- Packed RGB (16/18/24/30/36-bit), YCbCr422 (16/20/24-bit), and YCbCr420 (12-bit)
- Loosely packed RGB (18-bit) and YCbCr422 (20-bit)
Full DP 1.4 Compatibility with Advanced Visual Features
The DisplayPort transmitter is fully compliant with DP 1.4a and supports HDCP 1.3 and 2.3, offering secure transmission of protected content. Built-in features like color space conversion and jitter cleaning allow for precise output tuning. The IT6152 also supports eDP with ASSR and Alternative Framing modes, enabling compatibility with embedded displays. For dynamic video content, Variable Refresh Rate (VRR) is also supported, improving the experience for gaming and interactive use cases. Additionally, it supports 2-slice DSC decoding (up to 4Kx2K 10-bit), helping to reduce data rates without compromising image quality.Multi-Channel Audio Integration for Embedded Systems
Beyond video, the IT6152 integrates robust audio processing capabilities. It supports up to 8-channel LPCM audio input via I²S, with sampling rates up to 192kHz and bit depths up to 24-bit. Multiple audio delivery options are supported:- Up to 8 channels via multi-lane I²S or TDM mode (4/6/8 ch on single I²S)
- S/PDIF input for compressed audio (up to 192kHz)
- DSD input for high-fidelity applications (up to 8 channels at 88.2kHz)
- High Bit Rate (HBR) audio support up to 765kHz, with seamless integration into DP audio streams
