Empowering Data Center with 48V Power Distribution

As the demand for cloud computing, AI applications, and high-power processors and accelerators grows, data centers are evolving to accommodate new high-power requirements. There is an industry need to increase the power density per rack to about 100kW compared to current data centers, which max out at only a 20kW power rating.

MPS develops a new 48V power distribution solution expected to transform data center designs from the traditional 12V architecture. Using a 48V distribution voltage is capable of a 16x reduction in power distribution losses. By leveraging a two-stage conversion approach, the new structure's overall efficiency would be about 95%, while maintaining levels of size, cost, and scalability.
