Sharpening the Edge with GenAI

Sharpening the Edge with GenAI
Intelligent Processors That Perceive Their Environment
Synaptics’ new Astra™ SL2600 Series of multimodal GenAI processors, aimed at powering the next generation of intelligent IoT edge devices. The lineup targets a broad range of applications, including smart home appliances, industrial automation, charging infrastructure, medical equipment, smart retail, autonomous robots, and drones. The first product line, the SL2610, offers five pin-compatible processors that support everything from battery-powered, passively cooled AI-native devices to high-performance industrial vision systems..
Stronger AI Architecture, Greater Flexibility, and Built-In Security
At the heart of the SL2610 line is the Torq™ Edge AI platform, which combines Transformer- and CNN-capable Torq T1 NPU with the industry’s first production implementation of Google’s Coral NPU. This unified architecture supports dynamic operator execution, enabling IoT system designs to remain scalable and future-proof.
Torq leverages an end-to-end compiler and runtime built on the open-source IREE/MLIR projects, significantly expanding developer flexibility with support for standard and emerging model formats, including LiteRT, PyTorch, ONNX, and JAX. The SL2610 series also features a multi-tier architecture, integrating Arm® Cortex®-A55 and M52 cores alongside a Mali® 3D GPU, which delivers enhanced security at the silicon, device, and system levels. In addition, Synaptics’ Veros™ Connectivity enables support for Wi-Fi 6/6E/7, Bluetooth/BLE, Thread, and UWB, ensuring a consistent and seamless developer experience.
A Future-Ready Multimodal Edge AI Platform
With sampling now and general availability slated for calendar Q2 2026, Synaptics positions the Astra SL2610 line as the architectural foundation for scalable, multimodal edge-AI solutions. With features of power efficiency, seamless connectivity, and robust security as enablers for a wide array of applications from consumer to industrial, helping device makers bring smarter, context-aware products to market faster.
